APPLICATIONS FOR THE CURRENT WEEK ARE REVIEWED FRIDAYS.

UNLESS THERE IS A DELAY... which we'll typically announce. There are no application cycles in Smash! Send in applications whenever you want.
Note: We do not review apps in chronological order, but last-minute applications submitted at the buttcrack of midnight Friday might not get reviewed until the following week, so please be patient.

If you want to make sure no one else apps the character you are thinking of, head on over to the reserves first.

Before you apply or hit "post"...

Read our rules. Acceptable Series, FAQ and Premise couldn't hurt either.

Take a look at our application guidelines! This outlines what we expect in an application, and gives some inspiration and pointers if you're having trouble!

Look at the taken list to make sure the character you want isn't already taken.

Copy and use the application form that fits your character, whether they are returning, getting an update, or are brand new.

Spell check, spell check, spell check.

You may post a link to your application or post it in comment chunks. DW has a maximum character limit of 16,000 per comment, so that's quite generous and you'll probably be able to fit your app in just one or two comments! Here is a handy character count checker to see if that's the case.

You may rehash old applications or samples so long as YOU are the one that wrote them. We may ask for a new, more setting-applicable sample, or if we are unclear on the character's voice/personality, however. If you plagiarize, you will be banned.

Pokemon are allowed only two per player, and no more than three of the same kind at the same time.

He's back now and better than ever.

…Alright then.

[See Grit. See Grit in the rain. He’s looking down at the very beautifully made cake… that’s just sitting there in the rain. Although why Grit is in the rain remains to be determined. He doesn’t see too much wrong with all of this.]

Y’know, I think whoever made this cake might have better luck with it inside of the building. Y’can even tell the frosting is gettin’ ruined.

[He moves down and picks up the cake, looking at it closely. It’s just a simple green frosted cake, and Grit looks over it carefully.]

Well, I’m sure I can find something to do with it.

[And he walks off with the cake, in the rain ~~leaving macarthur park~~]
In-Character 3rd person sample: Grit finally decided to take a day off from teaching, and helping students learn, and actually get some much needed rest. Although there’s not always a ton of resting when you’re a teacher at a place where, if you aren’t in your dorm room, you can become a victim of a random Mario Kart grand prix. He nearly got hit with a green shell today and he’d like to avoid getting hit with another one.

So, he figures the best defense is to try and find an item he can use in case another one comes by. Thank god for the Item Storage.

He begins to dig through the thing, trying to find a good item. Banana peel, no. Motion Sensor Bomb, no (but he puts that one back very carefully as to not set it off). Smash Ball, definitely not. Although he has to wonder why there’s just one of these lying around… putting it far back in the closet just to make sure someone doesn’t accidentally set that one off.

He really starts to dig into this closet, trying to find something. He lifts a foot to get higher, and it knocks something over. Blinking, Grit turns to see he’s powered an assist trophy… by complete and utter mistake. Now, he’s not super familiar with them, having tried to avoid as many as he possibly can. But he hears the sound of it starting up, and he immediately moves into defensive mode.

“Hey! You! Tall guy! What do you think you’re doing, knockin’ over assist trophies like this?! Ain’t your mama ever teach you to respect someone else’s possessions!”

…Okay, so not damaging. It’s extremely annoying to get told off by some guy popping up from the ground, but really not the worst thing. He slides down to the ground, and just… gets himself comfortable for a nice long rant about how to carefully handle assist trophies and how to respect this item storage room. And all he can really think is how at least he’s not getting trapped in Mario Kart races again.

...For now, anyways.
